Racing Incident Report

HOME WITH GLORY began awkwardly. FLORA DANICA blundered badly at the start and then throughout the race travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. From the outside barrier, HOT PEPPER was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. For some distance approaching and passing the 600 Metres, HOME WITH GLORY got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of CHATER POWER. Shortly after entering into the Straight, FLORA DANICA became unbalanced when brushed by JUST CHILL. Near the 100 Metres, CONFUCIUS CLASSIC was steadied when disappointed for running between FLORA DANICA which was taken in by HOT PEPPER and COUNTRY MAGIC. Right on the finishing line, GOLD WINNER raced in restricted room between COSMO SUCCESSOR and TRACK LIGHTNING. When questioned, B Prebble stated that he had been instructed to lead on SUPERIOR WARRIOR if possible, however, if other runners were intent on leading, he should allow those horses to go forward of SUPERIOR WARRIOR. He said he rode SUPERIOR WARRIOR aggressively after the start to clear runners to his inside and rounding the first turn obtained a position outside of COSMO SUCCESSOR which was also hard ridden to obtain a forward position. He said he felt the tempo of the race in the early stages was fast and because of this when GOLD WINNER continued to press forward of SUPERIOR WARRIOR passing the 1000 Metres, he allowed that horse to clear his mount and proceed to the fence rather than attempt to obtain a position in front of COSMO SUCCESSOR. He added at no stage of tonight’s race did SUPERIOR WARRIOR travel well and in the Straight was particularly disappointing in the manner in which it gave ground. A veterinary inspection of SUPERIOR WARRIOR after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SUPERIOR WARRIOR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of FLORA DANICA and HOME WITH GLORY after the race did not show any significant findings. COSMO SUCCESSOR and TRACK LIGHTNING were sent for sampling.
