Racing Incident Report

LIBERATOR jumped away very awkwardly and shifted out, hampering CARTHAGE. Then despite being ridden vigorously, LIBERATOR failed to muster speed and settled back in the field. From wide barriers, HEAR THE ROAR and JOLLY GOOD were taken across behind runners soon after the start. From after straightening until approaching the 200 Metres, CARTHAGE was badly held up and unable to improve. Near the 200 Metres, CARTHAGE was checked away from the heels of INTERCHINA STAR and directed in to improve to the inside of the heels of SLEEP WELL. CARTHAGE remained held up and improved into narrow running between SLEEP WELL and PEGASUS SUPREME approaching the finishing line. As a result, CARTHAGE was not able to be tested in the Straight. LIBERATOR also had difficulty obtaining clear running until after passing the 200 Metres. From the 200 Metres until after passing the 100 Metres, INTERCHINA STAR was held up on the heels of AMITYSHIP. Close to the finishing line, SLEEP WELL raced in restricted room to the inside of INTERCHINA STAR which improved to be racing inside the heels of AMITYSHIP. In this incident, C W Wong, the rider of SLEEP WELL, got his whip caught in the gear of K C Leung, the rider of CARTHAGE. Throughout the race, SUPER BOBO travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, D Whyte stated that although obliged to race three wide throughout the race, ENDLESS LUCK was afforded cover, however, did not let down when placed under pressure and proved most disappointing. A veterinary inspection of WIN PRACTITIONER and ENDLESS LUCK after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SLEEP WELL had twisted its left front plate. ENDLESS LUCK, ENABLING and AMITYSHIP were sent for sampling.
