Racing Incident Report

On arrival at the barriers, it was noted that REAL SUPREME had a small wound and slight swelling above the left fore fetlock. REAL SUPREME was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.
Also on arrival at the barriers, NEW VISION had its left front plate refitted. NEW VISION was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.
WAH MAY STAR began very awkwardly, shifted out and made heavy contact with FLEET COMMAND which became unbalanced. In this incident, WAH MAY STAR knuckled over and lost ground.
Despite being ridden along in the early stages, BEAUTY FLASH failed to muster speed and shortly after the start was taken across behind runners.
T H So (BERIO) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 1000 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of KEEN MARIE, causing that horse to be hampered and to be awkwardly placed close to the heels of BERIO for some distance and in turn to be taken across the rightful running of NEW VISION which was also hampered. T H So was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 22 November 2012 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Wednesday, 14 November, 2012.
Making the first turn, KYARA got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of CHATER WAY, in doing so got its head on the side and shifted out, resulting in REAL SPECIALIST being hampered.
After the 900 Metres, NEW GLORY was left racing wide and without cover.
Rounding the Home Turn, NEW VISION an NEW GLORY raced tight as NEW VISION shifted to the outside of KEEN MARIE into clear running.
Near the 150 Metres, NEW VISION was taken wider by KEEN MARIE which shifted out. Then over the concluding stages, NEW VISION became unbalanced after being bumped by KEEN MARIE (C Y Ho) which shifted out further under pressure. C Y Ho was severely reprimanded and advised that he must make every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances.
Throughout the race, FLEET COMMAND travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.
After the race, R Fourie reported that as CHATER WAY did not close off its race when ridden forward at its most recent start, it had been decided to ride it in about a midfield position today due to the expected fast tempo of the race. He said whilst CHATER WAY was able to lead when it won over the course and distance on 16 September 2012, that race had been run at a slow tempo and it was not expected today’s race would be run in a similar manner.
Also after the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that NEW VISION had lost its left hind plate.
Following the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on KYARA at the request of Trainer J Moore. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, KYARA will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of FLEET COMMAND including an endoscopic examination after the race showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, FLEET COMMAND will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of SILVER GRECIAN and REAL SUPREME after the race did not show any significant findings.
REAL SPECIALIST and NEW VISION were sent for sampling.
