Racing Incident Report

CERISE CHERRY shifted in at the start and bumped VITAL FLYER.
In the early and middle stages, CHARLES THE GREAT got its head on the side and lay in.
After the 300 Metres, CERISE CHERRY was shifted to the inside of FREDERICK ENGELS after being disappointed for running outside that horse.
Near the 200 Metres, VITAL FLYER was shifted to the inside of the heels of BEAR HERO which was commencing to give ground.
After the 100 Metres, VITAL FLYER was steadied when disappointed for running between BEAR HERO and CHARLES THE GREAT which, after being brushed by BEST ELEVEN, then shifted out marginally of its own accord. As the Stewards did not believe that there was any carelessness exhibited by any rider in this incident, no further action was taken.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of GO BABY GO, T Angland stated that he had been riding the horse in its work as well as a barrier trial in the lead up to today’s race and that work had been strong. He said accordingly it was expected that GO BABY GO would race well today. He said at the 700 Metres he was able to shift to the inside of AMBER SKY with a view to improving his position to the outside of that horse as GO BABY GO had previously raced successfully when ridden in this manner. He said however that after the 600 Metres GO BABY GO came under pressure to hold its position and after the 500 Metres had to be ridden along vigorously. He added despite this GO BABY GO gave ground and did not close off the race. He said he was not able to offer any explanation for the horse’s disappointing performance. Trainer C H Yip stated that GO BABY BO had performed well in a barrier trial in the lead up to today’s race and its track work, in his opinion, had been good. He said accordingly he expected the horse to race well and advised the owners accordingly. He said the only explanation he could offer for the disappointing performance was that the race was run at a particularly quick tempo in the early and middle stages, but nonetheless the horse was disappointing in today’s race. A veterinary inspection of GO BABY GO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, O Doleuze reported that EAGLE REGIMENT proved somewhat reluctant to load and did not travel on the bridle at any stage. He said he was always obliged to ride the horse along in an endeavour to have it maintain its position and EAGLE REGIMENT, after coming under heavy pressure after the 500 Metres, gave ground thereafter. A veterinary inspection of EAGLE REGIMENT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of BEAR HERO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, BEAR HERO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on FREDERICK ENGELS at the request of Trainer J Moore. The Veterinary Surgeon said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, FREDERICK ENGELS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
AMBER SKY and STRAIGHT GOLD were sent for sampling.
<27/1/2014 Additional Veterinary Report> BEAR HERO, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. BEAR HERO was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer D E Ferraris this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. As previously advised, BEAR HERO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
