Racing Incident Report

From wide barriers, MISSION SMART and DAILY BEAUTY were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
MELBOURNE HALL was also steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Shortly after the start, MELBOURNE HALL was bumped by TOP SCORE which, when being ridden along, shifted out away from MASTER ALBERT.
Passing the 1100 Metres, TOP SCORE got its head on the side and shifted in away from MELBOURNE HALL and in doing so bumped MISSION SMART. Then near the 1050 Metres, despite being ridden along, TOP SCORE lost ground when reluctant to maintain its position between UNIVERSAL GO GO and MELBOURNE HALL.
Approaching the 1000 Metres, MISSION SMART was crowded for room between MELBOURNE HALL and FORTUNE WINNER which got its head on the side and lay out when making the turn awkwardly.
Approaching the 800 Metres, PACKING VICTORY was awkwardly placed close to the heels of WINNING DELAGO (C Schofield) which shifted in when not quite clear. C Schofield was advised to ensure that he gives sufficient clearance when shifting ground in similar circumstances. Then after racing close to the heels of WINNING DELAGO passing the 800 Metres, PACKING VICTORY shifted out away from the heels of that horse near the 750 Metres, resulting in HANDSOME REBEL being inconvenienced when taken wider.
Making the turn after the 600 Metres, FORTUNE WINNER again got its head on the side and lay out, resulting in FORTUNE WINNER losing ground.
Making the turn near the 500 Metres, PACKING VICTORY got its head on the side and lay out.
After the race, J Moreira reported that although he had to make some use of SIGHT HERO in the early stages to obtain a forward position, in his opinion, this did not account for the horse’s failure to finish off the race strongly. He said in the circumstances he was of the opinion that SIGHT HERO was disappointing in tonight’s race. A veterinary inspection of SIGHT HERO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of FORTUNE WINNER immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea.
PACKING VICTORY and MELBOURNE HALL were sent for sampling.
