Racing Incident Report

After being loaded into the barriers, FUN N GLORY became fractious and got down under the front gates before galloping riderless for a considerable distance. Acting on veterinary advice that FUN N GLORY was not suitable to race, the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, FUN N GLORY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Whilst FUN N GLORY was being recaptured, all horses which had been loaded into the barriers were removed. After being recaptured, FUN N GLORY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said that there were no significant findings.
STORMTROUPER and SUPER MISSION brushed at the start.
WISDOM PATCH shifted in at the start and bumped SWIFT SPIRIT.
From wide barriers, THE MULTIPLIER and JUBILATION were steadied to obtain cover in the early stages.
After initially being ridden along from a wide barrier, PEAK TO PEAK was steadied passing the 1300 Metres to obtain cover when racing wide.
After travelling a short distance, GOLDEN BOLT and LADY FIRST were crowded for room inside RED BRICK FIGHTER (L Currie) which got its head on the side and shifted in. LADY FIRST was then steadied approaching the 1300 Metres when crowded for room inside RED BRICK FIGHTER which was taken in by VOYAGE STAR (A Badel) which was then directed out to relieve the crowding. Both L Currie and A Badel were reprimanded and told in similar circumstances to exercise more care than they did on this occasion to prevent causing interference to other runners.
Passing the 1000 Metres, WISDOM PATCH raced close to the heels of STORMTROUPER which was being steadied to obtain cover behind AMIGOS GIGGLE.
For some distance approaching and passing the 900 Metres, AMIGOS GIGGLE raced close to the heels of GOLDEN BOLT when travelling keenly and near the 550 Metres was again very awkwardly placed close to the heels of GOLDEN BOLT.
At the 800 Metres, both RED BRICK FIGHTER and LADY FIRST were left racing wide and without cover.
Passing the 300 Metres, AMIGOS GIGGLE was directed to the inside of GOLDEN BOLT to obtain clear running.
Close to the finishing line, RED BRICK FIGHTER raced tight outside the heels of SALUTATION.
After the race, Z Purton was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of STORMTROUPER which he said weakened in the Straight after being placed under heavy pressure rounding the Home Turn. A veterinary inspection of STORMTROUPER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

SUPER MISSION, VOYAGE STAR and LADY FIRST were sent for sampling.
<31/1/2022 Additional Veterinary Reports>GOLDEN BOLT, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. GOLDEN BOLT was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer D J Whyte this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, GOLDEN BOLT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
