Racing Incident Report

Pla. Horse No. Horse Incident
1 2 SUPER JOY N FUN (J164) Shifted in on jumping and made contact with the right side of its barrier. Sent for sampling post-race.
2 11 LUCKY QUALITY (D050) Sent for sampling post-race.
3 3 GOLDEN BULL (H019) Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. <29/2/2024 Additional Veterinary Reports> The Veterinary Officer reported that GOLDEN BULL was found to be lame in its left front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, GOLDEN BULL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
4 1 TELECOM SPEED (G259) No report.
5 12 HEARTY WISH (E343) Noted to have lost its left front plate after the race.
6 8 GOLDEN LINK (D222) From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Making the first turn raced ungenerously and lay out. Bumped near the 300 Metres.
7 5 PRIME MORTAR (G328) Jumped only fairly and after travelling a short distance was crowded by GORGEOUS VITALITY which was taken in by TELECOM SPEED which shifted in when being corrected by its rider. After being held up on the Home Turn improved into a run approaching the 300 Metres between TELECOM SPEED and MARIO where there was not sufficient room, resulting in PRIME MORTAR becoming awkwardly placed behind TELECOM SPEED, shifting out and bumping with MARIO. K C Leung was reprimanded and advised that he must ensure there is sufficient racing room when he is improving.
8 6 RUNNING BOY (J041) Shortly after the start was bumped by GOLDEN BULL and became unbalanced.
9 7 GORGEOUS VITALITY (G051) Crowded shortly after the start. Near the 300 Metres bumped with GOLDEN LINK. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
10 4 MARIO (J100) At declaration time, K De Melo was declared as the rider of both MARIO and RUNNING BOY. It was established that K De Melo had a firm commitment to ride RUNNING BOY. As such, the Stewards permitted A Badel to be substituted as the rider of MARIO. For this declaration error, Trainer D J Hall was fined $2,000. Approaching the 1000 Metres raced tight to the inside of TELECOM SPEED which lay in despite the efforts of its rider. Bumped near the 300 Metres and became unbalanced.
11 9 CRYSTAL POWERFUL (H068) After the race, A Atzeni reported that his mount was under pressure throughout the event and he was obliged to ride it along to hold his position. He added that in the Home Straight CRYSTAL POWERFUL failed to respond to his riding and gave ground. Trainer W K Mo advised that CRYSTAL POWERFUL had pleased him leading into tonight’s race and he expected it to run well. He added the only explanation he could offer was that the horse had to be replated on the left hind leg on arrival at Happy Valley, however, was passed suitable to race by the Veterinary Officer. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of CRYSTAL POWERFUL was considered to be disappointing as compared to its previous race starts. Before being allowed to race again, CRYSTAL POWERFUL will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
WV-A 10 TATTENHAM (H121) After being loaded into the barriers reared and got its left front leg over the gates. Acting on veterinary advice that TATTENHAM was not suitable to race, the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, TATTENHAM will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
