He said when his mount jumped well, he elected to allow it to stride forward and lead to avoid racing wide and settled more forward than anticipated. Trainer confirmed the instructions issued - Race 743.

He said his mount jumped well and as a result he elected to ride his mount forward to lead the event when no other runner was showing the intent to hold the lead. Trainer advised that whilst he had given rider the option to take up a more forward position, he had not expected the horse to lead the event. He added, in his opinion, the horse was not suited by racing keenly in the lead which resulted in it giving ground in the Home Straight - Race 777.

After the race, rider reported that he was concerned with his mount’s action in the Home Straight. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 742.

8 G301  COLOURFUL BARON  22/05/2024   685  COLOURFUL BARON (G301) near the 1500M commenced to race keenly and was steadied away from a runner. For a short distance after the 1400M raced tight. After the race, rider reported that after holding a forward position, his mount was unsuited when the pace of the event eased in the middle stages. He said as a result his mount was unable to quicken when placed under pressure from the 600M. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 685.
