11 J256  MY WISH  01/01/2025   317  MY WISH (J256) when questioned, rider stated that with his mount stepping up in distance to 1600M and a number of noted leaders in the race, he was instructed to find a position behind the lead with cover. He said in the early stages he was able to comply with those instructions when crossed by a runner where his mount travelled comfortably. He said entering the Home Straight when positioned between runners he commenced to look for a run to the outside of a runner when there was no other option available to him. He said as he commenced to shift out, that runner then shifted out which resulted in a run becoming available. He added as he was committed to continue to the outside of that runner, he continued to do so but experienced difficulty obtaining clear running for some distance near the 300M when that runner continued to shift out. Trainer confirmed the instructions issued. After considering his explanation, the Stewards found the tactics adopted by rider were reasonable in the circumstances - Race 317.

Standby Horse
1 J161  SKY TRUST  19/01/2025   364  SKY TRUST (J161) when being shifted across behind runners in the early stages became unbalanced when it lowered its head. After the event, rider reported that from a wide barrier he was instructed to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages. Trainer confirmed the instructions and said he issued such instructions as the horse had performed well previously when being ridden in that manner and also in its most recent barrier trial conducted on 3 January 2025 - Race 364.
