Then was checked to avoid a runner for some distance thereafter when it refused to settle. Raced keenly through the early and middle stages and as a result was allowed to stride forward near the 800M to take up a position outside the lead - Race 334.

The Stewards considered a protest/objection lodged by rider of the horse, 2nd placegetter, against the eventual winner being declared the winner alleging interference approaching the 300M. After considering the evidence, the Stewards determined that near the 400M commenced to shift out when clear of the horse to do so. As the eventual winner continued to shift out, the horse improved into a tight run, lay in and a short distance later then blundered when it struck the heels of the eventual winner. As the Stewards were satisfied that the eventual winner was clear to shift ground when it commenced to do so and that the horse had contributed to striking heels when it lay in, they overruled the protest/objection and weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge. At a subsequent inquiry, the Stewards confirmed their decision in the protest/objection that the eventual winner was clear to shift ground when it commenced to do so and that the horse had lay in and that was the principal reason for the horse striking heels and blundering. As a result, no action was taken - Race 320.
