Standby Horse

When questioned, rider stated that from a wide barrier the instructions were to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages. He said his mount jumped awkwardly and then got its head up in the early stages whilst he was complying with the instructions. He said his mount hung in and proved difficult to ride out in the Home Straight. After being crowded near the 100M his mount then raced tight, so he could not fully test his mount out to the finish of the event. Trainer confirmed the instructions issued but advised that his mount had settled slightly further back than what he had expected. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 477.
