He said when that runner shifted away from the rail slightly he endeavoured to improve to its inside, however, near the 300M was checked when disappointed for that run when that runner shifted back in. As a result the horse did not obtain clear running until near the 250M. Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out to the finish when crowded - Race 656.

He added that in the Home Straight his mount hung in, made contact with another runner over the final 100M and proved difficult to ride out. When questioned regarding his mount settling more forward, rider stated that with his mount stepping up in distance he was given the option of taking up a more forward position if circumstances permitted. He said after jumping well he continued forward and was obliged to make some use of his mount to cross a runner in the early stages. Trainer confirmed the instructions issued - Race 671.
