SOLEIL FIGHTER (J127) when questioned rider stated that the instructions were to hold a forward position and he was given the option to lead if circumstances permitted. He said after his mount commenced well he was able to hold the lead in the early stages whereby his mount commenced to race keenly which resulted in him having to restrain the horse for some distance in the early stages to attempt to set a slower pace. He added making the turn near the 850M he elected to allow his mount more rein as he felt it was detrimental to continue to fight against the horse. He said after that his mount relaxed better and although he was aware he was setting a pace that was inside of standard time he felt that it was more beneficial to allow the horse to travel comfortably. He said from the 500M he placed his mount under pressure where it initially responded before being unable to finish the race off over the final 200M. He added that he agreed with the Stewards that in the circumstances it may have been better to hold his mount up until entering the Home Straight - Race 835. |

|
TOURBILLON PRINCE (H122) after the event rider stated that whilst his mount was able to hold the lead in the early stages, approaching the 1000M he elected to allow two runners to cross his mount as he felt the pace would have been too strong if he contested the lead. He said after being crossed by those runners leaving the 1000M his mount then travelled comfortably thereafter. He added entering the Home Straight his mount was held up for clear running behind those runners until near the 350M where it responded only fairly to his riding thereafter. Following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported - Race 836. |
