UAE Derby S3 - 4, 30/03/2024, Saturday Post Time 21:50

1

Auto Bahn

A 1400m winner on dirt in Argentina, and second in both Meydan starts -most significantly when only just beaten in a Listed event over this trip. More needed.

2

Oasis Boy

Won at G2 level in Argentina but two starts this year do not provide much confidence for this, and a long way behind winner and rival here Forever Young in the G3 Saudi Derby.

3

Rock Walk

Has competed over a wide variety of trips in his eight-race career in Uruguay. He has won three times and was most recently 6l second of 16 in a 2400m G1 on the dirt at Maronas in January.

4

Ballon D’Or

Japanese contenders have won this for the last two years. He has won two of his six starts - both over 1800m – but was comprehensively beaten in Tokyo last time.

5

Forever Young

This relentless galloper appeals as the most likely winner. Unbeaten in four starts, and, though only getting his head in front of a US rival in the last stride of February’s G3 Saudi Derby, the pair were way clear of the rest.

6

George Tesoro

Although yet to race over further than 1600m, his profile is progressive. Front-running tactics saw him win easily over 1400m at Tokyo in February.

7

Guns And Glory

He will race again in blinkers which surely helped when he was an impressive winner from the front over this course and distance this month.

8

Henry Adams

A G3 winner at Leopardstown on just his second start last year, twice performing well in G1 company after. Up in trip and onto the dirt for this 2024 return but both changes could suit this big and uncomplicated colt.

9

Killer Collect

A very big and good-looking colt who has speed and stamina. Put those assets to good use when leading most of the way to win a Listed event over this course and distance last month.

10

Mendelssohn Bay

The winner of two of his three starts notably when an impressive G3 winner over 1600m here, with the second horse home boosting the form with a subsequent victory. Should have the stamina for this trip.

11

Navy Seal

The stable has won this three times though their other runner – Henry Adams - looks to have the stronger chance. Only success so far in a maiden, and last of three at Dundalk this month.

12

Pandagate

The winner of two of his three starts, latterly when justifying favouritism with a convincing defeat of five rivals over 1600m at Aqueduct last month. Being touted as a potential Kentucky Derby candidate.

13

Satono Phoenix

The winner of his first two career starts, both at Hanshin. However, he has finished well behind one of this race’s rivals Forever Young on his last two starts so a win here would look most unlikely.
