Racing Incident Report

BEAR DOMINANCE and MATIRI KING were slow to begin. Near the 2000 Metres, MATIRI KING was steadied away from the heels of HAPPY CONTENDER which at this time got its head on the side and shifted in. In the early stages, KA KA WIN and MILLION SUCCESS travelled wide and without cover, then at the 1800 Metres were hampered and carried wider by CYPRESS HILL which at this time got its head up and shifted out away from the heels of WINNING SUNSHINE. After this, KA KA WIN was allowed to stride forward and lead. MILLION SUCCESS continued to race wide and without cover until the 1000 Metres. At the 1800 Metres, SEASONS KNACK, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up, shifted in and bumped the running rail. For a considerable distance in the middle stages, WINNING SUNSHINE proved difficult to settle. In the Back Straight, SEASONS KNACK proved difficult to settle. At the 600 Metres, CHEERFUL HEART became unbalanced and lost its position when crowded for room inside KOWLOON FIT which had its head on the side and was hanging in and then was carried in further by BEAR DOMINANCE (C Soumillon). C Soumillon was advised to exercise greater care. WINNING SUNSHINE, which was following CHEERFUL HEART, was steadied away from the heels of that horse. Also at the 600 Metres, KA KA WIN was momentarily crowded for room inside MATIRI KING. Near the 100 Metres, HAPPY CONTENDER, which was closing the race off strongly, was steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of KA KA WIN which when giving ground shifted out. In the Straight, KOWLOON FIT hung in. GREEN IN BLUE, which finished distanced, was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, GREEN IN BLUE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart beat and an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, GREEN IN BLUE will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. KOWLOON FIT, BEAR DOMINANCE and MATIRI KING were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted CHEERFUL HEART had sustained an abrasion to its right hind cannon.
