Racing Incident Report

GENERAL KINGY, first Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 21.2.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore). Before being allowed to race again, GENERAL KINGY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Prior to the running of Race 1, it was noted that ALINSKY had shifted its right hind plate. This plate was reset. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. NOBLE MAN was slow to begin. CONESTOGA began awkwardly and bumped the inside gate of its stall. Shortly after the start, KINGIFLY shifted out and was steadied away from the heels of ADAIKALI. Near the 1000 Metres, SHADOW KNIGHT was steadied when crowded for room between ALINSKY and FLYING SPRINTER which shifted in. In the early stages, OUR JET hung in. Also in the early stages, REGENCY HORSE was slow to muster speed. Near the 400 Metres, ENGINEERING WONDER was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of KINGIFLY which itself was being steadied at this time when unable to improve between FLYING SPRINTER and CONESTOGA. Near the 100 Metres, KINGIFLY was awkwardly placed outside the heels of NOBLE MAN. Also near the 100 Metres, C Soumillon (ADAIKALI) dropped his whip. Over the concluding stages, ADAIKALI shifted wider on the track. In the run to the line, ALINSKY was close to the heels of OUR JET which was giving ground and because of this was not ridden out right to the line. G Schofield (CONESTOGA), which performed poorly tonight, explained prior to the race the horse was on the toe more than usual in the parade. He said the horse did not relax prior to the race and then from a wide barrier travelled wide and without cover throughout, then in the Straight gave ground particularly over the final 200 Metres. CONESTOGA was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CONESTOGA after the race did not show any significant findings. REGENCY HORSE, ADAIKALI and NOBLE MAN were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported NOBLE MAN was lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, NOBLE MAN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
