Racing Incident Report

As the start was effected, FLYING PROFILE put its head down and turned it to the left. As a consequence, FLYING PROFILE was slow to begin and lost a considerable amount of ground. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, DEFLECT was steadied away from the heels of HIGH PRICE. Near the 800 Metres, HENNESSY DAYS was bumped by WE'RE BUDDIES which at this time shifted in when crowded for room inside MADE IN HONGKONG which got its head on the side and hung in. At the 800 Metres, FLYING PROFILE got its head up when being checked to avoid the heels of SEVEN STARS which was giving ground. At the 600 Metres, DEFLECT was steadied when awkwardly placed behind WE'RE BUDDIES and HENNESSY DAYS which at this time was giving ground. At the 300 Metres, WE'RE BUDDIES was steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of TO SIR WITH LOVE which at this time was giving ground. Also at the 300 Metres, NEW TAMAR, which was closing the race off, was steadied and shifted to the outside of MADE IN HONGKONG to obtain clear running. Over the concluding stages, SHOW BRAVELY hung in. When questioned regarding the poor performance of TO SIR WITH LOVE, Apprentice K L Chui said in his opinion the horse was not suited by today's track conditions. TO SIR WITH LOVE was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of TO SIR WITH LOVE after the race did not show any significant findings. H K Yim (HENNESSY DAYS) said throughout the race his mount appeared unbalanced in the ground and hung out. He said because of this once the horse was well beaten after straightening, he did not ride it out to the end of the race. DEFLECT and HENNESSY DAYS were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of DEFLECT after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, HENNESSY DAYS was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse had finished distressed. Before being allowed to race again, HENNESSY DAYS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. The performance of SEVEN STARS, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SEVEN STARS will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. POSA and NEW TAMAR were sent for sampling.
