Racing Incident Report

SIR ERNESTO was withdrawn on 25.5.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter WEALTHY TREASURE. Before being allowed to race again, SIR ERNESTO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WINNING SUCCESS began awkwardly. ESPERANZA bounded in the air at the start and then shortly after the start shifted out and was steadied away from the heels of CZAR OF PRUSSIA. SUPREME CLASS, which was leaning against the partition of its stall, began awkwardly. Near the 1100 Metres, WINNING SUCCESS commenced to race fiercely and steadied away from the heels of ARMADA. Near the 700 Metres, SUPREME CLASS shifted out from behind SYDNEY OWNER. This resulted in WINNING REWARD being taken out onto ARMADA which in turn shifted out and bumped INDUSTRIAL SUCCESS. Passing the 500 Metres, GOODY was steadied away from the heels of ESPERANZA. Also passing the 500 Metres, ARMADA was steadied away from the heels of WINNING REWARD which was taken out when bumped by SUPREME CLASS (Apprentice K L Chui) which at this time shifted to the outside of CHIMERA. Apprentice Chui was reprimanded and advised to exercise care when shifting ground in similar circumstances. WEALTHY TREASURE, which was following ARMADA, was steadied in consequence. ARMADA made the Home Turn awkwardly. In the early part of the Straight, SUPREME CLASS, was inclined to shift out when being ridden along. Also in the early part of the Straight, GOODY was held up for clear running and at the 400 Metres was shifted to the outside of WINNING SUCCESS to improve its position. GOODY was then inclined to hang out under pressure and over the final 100 Metres, A Delpech, its rider, was obliged to stop riding on two occasions due to GOODY being awkwardly placed close to the hindquarters of SUPREME CLASS. When questioned, Apprentice H W Lai said prior to the race he discussed how WINNING REWARD should be ridden with the trainer. He said due to the track conditions it was felt WINNING REWARD would be better suited by being ridden in a slightly more prominent position than it has been of recent times. When questioned, O Doleuze (CHEERFUL MASTER) said his mount did not appear to appreciate today's track conditions. He said whilst his mount over-raced in the middle stages and was then taken wider by GUNG HO on the Home Turn, these incidents were not of significance as his mount did not respond to his riding in the early part of the Straight. He added he did not ride CHEERFUL MASTER in the latter part of the Straight as the horse was well beaten. CHEERFUL MASTER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CHEERFUL MASTER after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of CHEERFUL MASTER, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CHEERFUL MASTER will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SYDNEY OWNER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SYDNEY OWNER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ARMADA and SUPREME CLASS were sent for sampling.
