L Hewitson stated that his mount, which was having its first race start on the All Weather surface, would be better suited by racing at Happy Valley and dropping back in distance to 1000 Metres. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

8 3 YOUNG STRIKER (K029) 9 D Probert Near the 200 Metres lay in and away from NOBLE DELUXE, made contact with ROBOT KNIGHT and became unbalanced. D Probert reported that he was requested to ride the horse where comfortable. He said when his mount jumped well and with blinkers being applied for the first time he allowed the horse to stride forward and race outside the lead. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have a respiratory condition which requires further assessment.
6 4 GENERAL SMART (K138) 6 Z Purton Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with EXCELLENT DADDY. Held up for clear running between the 200 Metres and the 100 Metres.
5 5 ROBOT KNIGHT (H464) 1 E C W Wong (-5) Near the 350 Metres shifted out and bumped with NOBLE DELUXE. Near the 200 Metres became unbalanced when crowded between MACANESE MASTER and YOUNG STRIKER which lay in and away from NOBLE DELUXE. Sent for sampling post-race.
2 6 ONLY U (J037) 8 K Teetan Jumped only fairly. When questioned K Teetan stated that with the horse dropping back in distance to 1200 Metres he expected it to settle behind midfield and he had been requested if possible to make his run out wide in the Home Straight as ONLY U had been held up at its previous race starts. He said after settling in a position behind RICH HORSE he observed that horse shift out from the 600 Metres which then resulted in ONLY U improving to the inside of that runner. He said although his instructions were to come wide in the Home Straight he elected to follow SONIC BOOM which he considered to be one of the chances in the race with a view to then improving to the inside of RICH HORSE and shifting that horse out to allow him to obtain clear running. He said his decision to do so was also influenced by the fact that he would have been required to ease his mount to shift to the outside of RICH HORSE to secure clear running wider on the track. He added that as he improved to the inside of RICH HORSE that runner held its position and SONIC BOOM did not improve as he had anticipated which resulted in ONLY U being held up for clear running between the 350 Metres and the 300 Metres before finishing the race off well thereafter. After considering his explanation the Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Teetan were reasonable in the circumstances. Sent for sampling post-race.
12 7 RICH HORSE (J191) 12 J Orman Near the 300 Metres was steadied when crowded between ONLY U which shifted out slightly and EXCELLENT DADDY which shifted in. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. J Orman was warned in relation to using his whip on a horse that was out of contention.
10 8 SMART ENGINEER (K244) 2 D B McMonagle Leaving the 800 Metres raced tight to the inside of NOBLE DELUXE which lay in and away from YOUNG STRIKER. Taken out near the 300 Metres.
4 9 EXCELLENT DADDY (E321) 5 K C Leung Jumped only fairly and then was bumped by GENERAL SMART which shifted in.
1 10 NOBLE DELUXE (K052) 4 A Atzeni Near the 350 Metres became unbalanced when bumped by ROBOT KNIGHT which shifted out. As a result NOBLE DELUXE then became awkwardly placed close to YOUNG STRIKER as that runner commenced to give ground, resulting in NOBLE DELUXE having to be steadied and shifted to the outside of YOUNG STRIKER to obtain clear running. Sent for sampling post-race.
3 11 MACANESE MASTER (J532) 3 M F Poon Jumped only fairly.
7 12 SONIC BOOM (H144) 7 M Guyon Blundered on jumping. Raced wide and without cover from the 700 Metres. Near the 300 Metres EXCEED THE WISH shifted out and away from NOBLE DELUXE, resulting in SMART ENGINEER being taken out onto SONIC BOOM which was hampered and taken wider. M Guyon reported that over the concluding stages he had some concern with his mount when he felt there may be something amiss with it. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, SONIC BOOM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

14 3 BIG STRIDE (K194) 2 J Orman Shifted in on jumping and was bumped. The performance of BIG STRIDE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BIG STRIDE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
3 4 RUN RUN TIMING (H403) 8 R Kingscote Shifted out near the 400 Metres and was bumped. R Kingscote stated that the intention was to hold a more forward position, but his mount settled further back after jumping only fairly and being crowded shortly after the start.

8 6 JOLLY JUMPER (K110) 6 B Avdulla Shifted in at the start and was bumped. B Avdulla reported that his mount was disadvantaged during the race by being pressured in the lead by ATOMIC BEAUTY and finished the race off only fairly in the Home Straight. Sent for sampling post-race.
12 7 ATOMIC BEAUTY (H066) 11 A Atzeni Shifted in at the start and was bumped. A Atzeni stated that when caught wide in the early stages he was obliged to make use of his mount to go forward to avoid covering additional ground. He said as a consequence ATOMIC BEAUTY gave ground when under pressure in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

9 9 VERBIER (J187) 10 C Y Ho Near the 400 Metres was bumped when taken wider by RUN RUN TIMING which shifted out. C Y Ho stated that whilst his preference was to hold a forward position he was given the option to settle where his mount was comfortable. He said after being crowded at the start VERBIER settled in a midfield position. He added that in the early and middle stages VERBIER raced keenly and did not settle.

Both D B McMonagle and A Atzeni were advised to exercise more care.

Trainer C W Chang advised that from a wide barrier he had requested DAY DAY VICTORY to be ridden in a conservative manner in the early stages.

L Ferraris stated that from his wide barrier he was obliged to race very wide and without cover for the majority of the event and as a result was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight. Near the 700 Metres was hampered when bumped by HERBAL STAR which shifted in slightly. Raced wide and without cover from the 700 Metres. Approaching the 200 Metres was disappointed for clear running between HERBAL STAR and FLOWING RICHES which shifted out. As a result JUICY DRAGON was steadied and shifted to the inside of FLOWING RICHES where it obtained clear running near the 150 Metres.

In this incident SUPREME SEA shifted out and as a consequence made contact with FLYING TING LOK. Sent for sampling post-race.

M F Poon reported that when he obtained a position with cover behind SHINYU KOKOROE near the 700 Metres his mount appeared to resent the kickback thereafter.

3 11 FIREFOOT (J183) 2 R Kingscote When questioned R Kingscote stated that near the 600 Metres he elected to shift to a one-off position to follow GOOD GOOD. He said as he did so FIREFOOT commenced to race keenly and as a result he was obliged to take hold to avoid the heels of GOOD GOOD which resulted in FIREFOOT shifting out and making contact with HAPPYDEARHAPPYDEER. He added when he was satisfied there was then sufficient room to improve between GOOD GOOD and HAPPYDEARHAPPYDEER he then placed his mount under pressure to obtain that position. After considering his explanation the Stewards advised Jockey Kingscote to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
9 12 STAR BROSE (J463) 9 A Atzeni Jumped awkwardly and made contact with YODA’S CHOICE. When being steadied to allow VIVA TASTE to cross leaving the 1600 Metres commenced to race keenly and got its head up when being steadied to avoid that runner. STAR BROSE continued to race keenly throughout the early and middle stages. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
13 13 HAPPYDEARHAPPYDEER (J002) 7 M Chadwick Lay in shortly after the start and was bumped. Near the 550 Metres was hampered when taken wider by FIREFOOT when that runner improved into a run where there was doubtful room between GOOD GOOD and HAPPYDEARHAPPYDEER. M Chadwick reported that after being bumped and taken wider near the 550 Metres his mount was unable to finish the race off thereafter and gave ground in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The Veterinary Officer reported that the horse was lame in its left front leg after the race. Before being allowed to race again, NOT USUAL PICK will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

9 5 FASHION LEGEND (J080) 11 L Ferraris L Ferraris stated that he was instructed to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages as FASHION LEGEND has a tendency to race keenly. He said as a result from his wide barrier he shifted the horse behind runners in the early stages to comply with his instructions. Trainer D Eustace confirmed the instructions issued. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

12 7 VIRTUOUS PHANTOM (K147) 7 D B McMonagle Bumped at the start. Crowded near the 400 Metres. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea.
3 8 CALIFORNIA STAR (J123) 10 Z Purton Held up for clear running between the 500 Metres and the 400 Metres.
4 9 LESLIE (E471) 6 M F Poon Shifted out on jumping and was bumped. Approaching the 350 Metres improved into a tight run between SHANGHAI STYLE and CONSPIRACY WITNESS and as a result made contact with CONSPIRACY WITNESS.
7 10 MEGA FORCE (K200) 8 K Teetan K Teetan stated that after being bumped on jumping he rode his mount along to endeavour to hold a more forward position but MEGA FORCE did not respond and as a result became detached from the field in the early and middle stages.

13 12 SANDMAN (K220) 12 D Probert H T Mo (NEVER PETER OUT) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 400 Metres he allowed his mount to shift out when not clear of VIRTUOUS PHANTOM, resulting in VIRTUOUS PHANTOM being taken out across the running of SANDMAN which resulted in SANDMAN having to be checked when it was crowded for room between FASHION LEGEND and VIRTUOUS PHANTOM. H T Mo was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 4 February 2026 at Happy Valley. In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his very good race riding record. D Probert reported that the horse made a respiratory noise during the race before giving ground on the Home Turn. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of SANDMAN, which finished tailed out on the second occasion in recent starts, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SANDMAN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in consecutive barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

WV-A 4 HAPPY UNIVERSE (J533) R Kingscote After being placed in the starting gates got its head under the starting gates and became cast. Was removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice HAPPY UNIVERSE was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY UNIVERSE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

He said leaving the 300 Metres he endeavoured to improve into a narrow run between ARIEL and COLOURFUL GAN when those two runners shifted ground slightly and he was obliged to check his mount passing the 200 Metres when SUPER UNICORN did not respond sufficiently to his efforts to improve into the run. As a result SUPER UNICORN was not ridden out to the finish of the event. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
