Racing Incident Report

SUNRISE STRIKER was slow to begin. RED STORM RISING, which was standing with its head turned to the right, began awkwardly, causing C Munce, its rider, to become unbalanced. As a consequence, RED STORM RISING travelled well back in the field and proved difficult to settle in the early stages. TURF GOLD was slow to begin, then shortly afterwards lost further ground when crowded for room between CARE FREE PRINCE which began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly and CLASSIC HORSE which shifted in. CARE FREE PRINCE then bumped with CLASSIC HORSE, as a consequence became unbalanced and lost ground. On jumping, CHINSOLA stumbled. After the 1100 Metres, TERRAFERMA after being crossed by SUPER BALL commenced to over-race, got its head up and raced ungenerously for a considerable distance. At the 500 Metres, SIMPLY THE BEST was checked when awkwardly placed inside the heels of SUNRISE STRIKER which shifted in slightly after momentarily shifting out. No action was taken. In the early part of the Straight, TERRAFERMA had difficulty obtaining clear running and at the 300 Metres was steadied when disappointed for a run between SUPER BALL and THUNDER STORM. After this, TERRAFERMA continued to have difficulty obtaining clear running and near the 100 Metres became unbalanced when bumped by THUNDER STORM. After the 200 Metres, BARAKA was momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SOLAR POWER. At the 100 Metres, SIMPLY THE BEST, which was closing the race off fairly, was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of THUNDER STORM which was giving ground. In the Straight, CARE FREE PRINCE hung in. E Saint-Martin (CLASSIC HORSE) said from a wide barrier he was instructed to ride the horse with cover as was the case last start. He said in order to obtain cover he had to drop back to race near the rear. He said however today at no stage of the race did CLASSIC HORSE feel comfortable in its action and in the Straight did not stride out as freely as he thought it should. Following the race, CLASSIC HORSE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. CARE FREE PRINCE, LIVERBIRD and SUPER BALL were sent for sampling.
