Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, FLASHING STAR was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. ZAVONE was slow to begin. GENERAL KINGY began awkwardly. BLUE GENES began awkwardly, bumped the inside gate of its stall and then made contact with GALLANT LION. On jumping, ROYAL DELIGHT was bumped by DOWN TOWN which shifted out. Near the 600 Metres, FLYING SPRINTER was steadied when crowded for room between FLASHING STAR and ROYAL DELIGHT. At the 200 Metres, CONESTOGA, which was hanging in, bumped ABLE CHOICE. For the major part of the race, BRAINS TRUST hung in. The performance of FLYING SPRINTER was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FLYING SPRINTER will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GALLANT LION and FLYING SPRINTER were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, GALLANT LION was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed the horse to have a displacement of the soft palate. A veterinary inspection of FLYING SPRINTER after the race did not show any significant findings. ROYAL DELIGHT, BULB KING and ABLE CHOICE were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported BRAINS TRUST had lost its left front plate and had sustained a cut to the right hock.
