Racing Incident Report
FANTASTIC WIN began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. ALIPES began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped LUCKY KING. SOUTHERN LIGHT, KING OF SPADES and LUCKY KING were slow to begin. Shortly after the start, SOUTHERN LIGHT was steadied away from the heels of CARE FREE PRINCE which was carried out slightly by FIREWHEEL which shifted ground after making contact with KA KA SMART. At the 1000 Metres, SUPER BONUS, which was proving difficult to settle, brushed the running rail. From the 400 Metres until the 300 Metres, RICH FOR ALL was held up and unable to obtain clear running behind SUPER BONUS. CARE FREE PRINCE, which was following RICH FOR ALL, was also held up and unable to improve. Then near the 300 Metres, CARE FREE PRINCE was steadied when disappointed for running inside RICH FOR ALL which at this time shifted to the inside of SUPER BONUS. After this until the 200 Metres, CARE FREE PRINCE continued to be held up behind RICH FOR ALL. From near the 200 Metres until after the 100 Metres, RICH FOR ALL was again held up and unable to improve when racing inside SUPER BONUS and behind GREEN IDEAL which was giving ground. When questioned, W M Lai (MAVERICK) said because of the anticipated slow pace, he was instructed today to ride the horse from the outside barrier in a slightly more forward position. He said accordingly he rode MAVERICK along in the early stages, was able to cross and race in a position forward of midfield, however, he was not able to obtain cover. LUCKY KING was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY KING after the race did not show any significant findings. RICH FOR ALL, GREEN IDEAL, MAVERICK and KING OF SPADES were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported KA KA SMART had lost its left front plate.
