Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the barriers, M de Montfort (SUN SHINE RIVER) reported to the Veterinary Surgeon that the horse had kicked out and made contact with a rail. The Veterinary Surgeon examined SUN SHINE RIVER, discussed the matter with M de Montfort and he then decided that SUN SHINE RIVER was suitable to take its place in the field. On jumping, CITIZEN KANE jumped in the air, shifted out and bumped WASABI. Approaching the 800 Metres, SOMLUCK, which was proving very difficult to settle, got its head up when being checked as a result of being disappointed for running between MERIDIAN STAR and KOOKABURRA. For some distance near the 800 Metres, KOOKABURRA became unbalanced when racing awkwardly WASABI and ASIA RISING. About the 800 Metres, CHAMPIONSHIP got its head up to avoid the heels of WILLIE WAY (Apprentice C H Tse) which shifted in when not clear. It was decided not to take any direct action, but Apprentice C H Tse was severely reprimanded and told he must exercise much more care than this when shifting ground. In the Straight, SUN SHINE RIVER had a tendency to get its head on the side and shift in when being ridden with the whip. As a consequence of this, M de Montfort stopped riding on several occasions and straightened. ASIA RISING was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
