Racing Incident Report

MIDAS SECRET was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, THUNDER STORM was crowded for room between LUCKY VICTORIES and CHIVAS LAD which shifted in after beginning awkwardly. C'EST LA VIE was a little slow to begin. After the race, W C Marwing (C'EST LA VIE) reported that the saddle shifted back in the middle stages. CHIVAS LAD proved difficult to settle in the early stages and got its head up on a number of occasions. In the early stages, GLORY ST PAUL'S got its head up and was difficult to settle. At the 700 Metres, MIDAS SECRET became unbalanced and blundered. When under pressure in the Straight, THUNDER STORM shifted ground on a number of occasions. When questioned, H K Yim (PERFECT VICTORY) said he had been instructed from a wide barrier to ride his mount along in the early stages and endeavour to be in a forward position but to try and ensure he obtained cover. He said in accordance with those instructions, after PERFECT VICTORY began only fairly he rode his mount forward in the hope of being able to find a position with cover and slightly in front of midfield, however, as he continued forward it became apparent he was not going to be able to obtain cover and in the circumstances he felt it best to race three wide outside the lead. G Mossé (FRENCH CONNECTION) said he had been instructed to ride the horse either in the lead or just behind the lead if possible. He said FRENCH CONNECTION was not standing well after being boxed and when the gates opened bumped the inside of its stall, as a consequence was slow to begin and got much further out of its ground than was anticipated. He said the horse travelled comfortably in the early and middle stages, however, he was awkwardly placed inside the hindquarters of SUPER TEAM for a short distance at about the 700 Metres. He added when under pressure in the Straight FRENCH CONNECTION hung out. The explanations submitted by G Mossé were accepted. FRENCH CONNECTION was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
