Racing Incident Report

GOLDEN BELL, which was restless in the gates and had been held by an attendant, came out awkwardly, then lost its position when crowded for room between JOYFUL STAR and CHAMPION RANGER which on jumping shifted in. As a consequence of these incidents, GOLDEN BELL got well back. On jumping, TIM'S TONIC threw its head about. INCA ROSE bounded in the air at the start, as a consequence of this lost some ground, was then ridden along hard to go forward, proved very difficult to settle and at about the 1200 Metres shifted out abruptly to avoid JOYOUS CHEERS. Near the 300 Metres, ACTIVE ACCOUNT, which was giving ground, was checked when crowded between TIM'S TONIC which shifted out and CHAMPION RANGER which shifted in slightly. In the circumstances, no action was taken. G Schofield (ACTIVE ACCOUNT) said the horse left the gates a little slowly as it did last week. He said with the benefit of the run last week, he expected ACTIVE ACCOUNT would be very competitive tonight. He went on to say the horse travelled comfortably about midfield, but in the Straight when he thought it would be going forward, ACTIVE ACCOUNT commenced to give ground and whilst he was checked severely at about the 300 Metres, in all the circumstances this was of little significance so far as the finishing position of ACTIVE ACCOUNT was concerned. ACTIVE ACCOUNT was sent for sampling and a clinical veterinary examination. INCA ROSE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, INCA ROSE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He was unable to find any significant abnormality. Before the horse can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. JOYOUS CHEERS and RENA'S WUNDERBAR were went for sampling.
Additional veterinary reports: Dr Brian Stewart, the Club's Senior Veterinary Officer, has today (9 September) advised that he examined INCA ROSE yesterday and found the horse to be lame in the left front which in his opinion was coming from the area of the horse's shoulder. As was reported last Saturday, INCA ROSE is required to pass an official veterinary examination before racing again.
