Racing Incident Report

When the gates opened, SUPER BLITZ stood flat-footed and lost considerable ground at the start. Before being permitted to race again, SUPER BLITZ will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. KINDRED SPIRITS began awkwardly. On jumping, MASTERY was bumped by BOLD FIGHTER which shifted in. At the 1400 Metres, SPRINTER was steadied when momentarily crowded for room between ELEPHANT DANCE and BEETHOVEN which shifted in slightly. After the 300 Metres, ENTERTAINING, which was having difficulty finding clear running, was steadied and shifted to the outside of BEETHOVEN. In the Straight, BEETHOVEN hung in, on several occasions raced tight with WEALTHY TREASURE and proved difficult to ride out. S Dye (WEALTHY TREASURE) explained approaching the 800 Metres he had obtained a nice position with cover behind DAVE'S BEST which was racing outside the leader. He said near the 800 Metre DAVE'S BEST came back a fraction and WEALTHY TREASURE, which was proving difficult to settle, became awkwardly placed on its heels and shifted out which in turn caused BEETHOVEN to be carried four wide. S Dye said after this he continued to race in a three wide position as he was unable to come back into the position behind DAVE'S BEST. After this incident, BEETHOVEN continued to race wide and without cover. DAVE'S BEST and BEETHOVEN were sent for sampling.
