Racing Incident Report

GALLANT FALCON began awkwardly, got its head up, lost ground and then was steadied away from the heels of CLASSA FOR EVER which began awkwardly and shifted out. SHINING LIGHT, which was standing badly, began awkwardly and lost ground. JOY AND TREASURE was slow to begin. PURPLE GOLD was a little slow to begin. After the 1300 Metres, REAL THRILLS got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of MAN ON THE MOON. After this, REAL THRILLS proved difficult to settle when awkwardly placed close to the heels of MAN ON THE MOON and making the turn at the 800 Metres got its head on the side and commenced to hang out. Near the 700 Metres, BINGSON got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of FANTASTIC WINNER. When this happened, MAN ON THE MOON, which was following BINGSON, was steadied away from that runner, shifted out and caused inconvenience to REAL THRILLS and LUCKY CORDELIA, both of which were hampered and carried wider. Some inconvenience was also caused to GALLANT FALCON which was following MAN ON THE MOON. REAL THRILLS made the Home Turn awkwardly and hung out. In the early part of the Straight, NIGHT NINJA hung in, then when placed under pressure after the 200 Metres commenced to hang out and shifted ground. Because of this, F Coetzee, the horse's rider, changed the whip into his left hand. Over the concluding stages, MAN ON THE MOON was inclined to hang out. Apprentice M W Leung (CLASSA FOR EVER) explained when he had previously ridden the horse, it had begun awkwardly and then proved somewhat difficult to settle in its races. He said because of this today he had been instructed by Mr L Ho, trainer of CLASSA FOR EVER, to endeavour to make the horse begin cleanly and if possible obtain a position behind MAN ON THE MOON. He said CLASSA FOR EVER again began awkwardly today, he then rode his mount along in an attempt to make sure it obtained a forward position and when no other runner went forward on his inside, he elected to allow CLASSA FOR EVER to go forward, cross to the fence and lead. The explanation of Apprentice Leung was accepted. MAN ON THE MOON, CLASSA FOR EVER and GREAT ACHIEVEMENT were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted CLASSA FOR EVER had sustained a laceration to the right front cannon. The Veterinary Officer reported following the race ZU GUO STAR was distressed.
