Racing Incident Report

JOLLY GAINS was withdrawn on 14.5.04 on veterinary grounds (respiratory disease) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter RED POWER. Before being allowed to race again, JOLLY GAINS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CHINSOLA was slow to begin, near the 700 Metres became unbalanced and bumped the running rail when crowded for room inside MARANELLO which at that time was improving to the inside of GOODY which shifted in slightly. No action was taken. RED POWER was a little slow to begin, then shortly afterwards was steadied when crowded for room between GOODY and LUCKY STALLION which shifted in after being bumped by INSIDE MAIL which in turn shifted ground after making contact with BUMPER BUMPER. In the early stages, INSIDE MAIL proved difficult to settle and on a number of occasions got its head up. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, LUCKY STALLION was bumped by SCINTILLATION which got its head on the side and shifted in. Also making the turn at the 800 Metres, MOVE IT was steadied when crowded for room between DANEHILL WARRIOR and STRONGHEART which was carried in slightly by BUMPER BUMPER which shifted in when just clear. At the 600 Metres and again on several occasions making the Home Turn, RED POWER and INSIDE MAIL bumped. At the 400 Metres, GOODY was steadied when held up for running between INSIDE MAIL which at this time got its head on the side and was inclined to shift in, and MARANELLO. After the 300 Metres, STRONGHEART was steadied away from the heels of MARANELLO which shifted out. At the 200 Metres, CHINSOLA was checked when disappointed for running between LUCKY STALLION and DANEHILL WARRIOR (Apprentice K H Chan) which shifted in when improving on the inside of RUN AND WIN after initially being taken in by that horse. Apprentice K H Chan was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care. Over the concluding stages, GOODY hung in. Also over the concluding stages, RED POWER hung in and proved difficult to ride. Just prior to the winning post, CHINSOLA and MR COOL bumped. Apprentice P H Lo (RUN AND WIN) said he had been instructed to ride the horse in a rearward position today if possible, however, RUN AND WIN began cleanly and he was not able to restrain the horse to carry out his instructions, as such RUN AND WIN travelled forward to race outside the lead. STRONGHEART was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, it was reported STRONGHEART had bled from both nostrils. SCINTILLATION and BUMPER BUMPER were sent for sampling.
