Racing Incident Report

FAVOURITE EXPRESS was withdrawn on raceday morning on veterinary grounds (lame right front leg). Before being allowed to race again, FAVOURITE EXPRESS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BOLD FIGHTER was a little slow to begin, proved very difficult to settle in the early stages and making the turn at the 800 Metres was shifted out away from the heels of DEFLECT. TSZ WAN FORTUNE began awkwardly and lost ground at the start, then in the early stages proved very difficult to settle. On jumping, INDUBITABLY BLISS shifted out, then got its head up. Near the 1000 Metres, LUCKY LAD was crowded for room and HEALTHY FRUITS checked when INDUBITABLY BLISS got its head up and became unbalanced when shifting in away from GOODWOOD which was racing tight inside KEEP ON EASY which momentarily shifted ground. In the opinion of the Stewards, the manner in which INDUBITABLY BLISS reacted caused this incident and therefore no action was taken. After the 900 Metres, CENDAMY shifted in abruptly and caused some inconvenience to TSZ WAN FORTUNE. CENDAMY, which was racing wide and without cover, proved difficult to settle in the early stages and after the 800 Metres was allowed to stride forward. On straightening, GOODWOOD and TSZ WAN FORTUNE came together, then after the 400 Metres TSZ WAN FORTUNE was bumped by GOODWOOD which was shifting out to obtain clear running. For a considerable distance after the 300 Metres, FAST TRACK was held up and unable to obtain clear running between SUPER CHARGE and IN THE BANK. In the Straight, INDUBITABLY BLISS was inclined to lay out. D Whyte (KEEP ON EASY) explained in the Straight his mount was inclined to lay in towards the hindquarters of IN THE BANK and in his opinion seemed reluctant to go past that horse. He said therefore after the 200 Metres he shifted KEEP ON EASY out in an attempt to get it to change stride in the hope that it would race more truly. He said when he did this, FAST TRACK which he had held in a pocket for a considerable distance was able to improve on his inside. The explanation submitted by D Whyte was accepted. FAST TRACK and IN THE BANK were sent for sampling.
