Racing Incident Report

GIFT and GOLD FIELD were slow to begin. LUCKY HANDS was a little slow to begin and then was bumped by DR MORE which on jumping shifted out. From a wide gate, GOLCONDA raced wide and without cover throughout. Near the 1200 Metres, CHEEKY was checked to avoid the heels of WINNING COUNTER (O Doleuze) which shifted in when not quite clear. LUCKY CHAMPION, which was following, was steadied away from the heels of CHEEKY, then shortly afterwards shifted in when not clear of LUCKY HANDS which was checked. In the circumstances, O Doleuze was severely reprimanded. WINNING COUNTER and LUCKY HANDS were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of WINNING COUNTER after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of WINNING COUNTER, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, WINNING COUNTER will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After the race, LUCKY HANDS was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY HANDS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. THE KING and MASTER GIGOLO were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 5 May 2005)
WINNING COUNTER, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. WINNING COUNTER was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer J Moore this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have an inflamed right front fetlock. As previously advised, WINNING COUNTER will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
