Racing Incident Report

TIGER RIDGE was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (fever). Before being allowed to race again, TIGER RIDGE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SUNNY SING and HONOUR SUPREME were slow to begin. When the gates opened, FLYING GENERAL put its head down, knuckled and as a consequence lost ground. HARMONY was slow to muster speed. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, HARMONY shifted in and brushed CLASSA FOR EVER. After this, HARMONY hung out and caused inconvenience to STARDANE and GRAND FIGHTER which were carried wider. Shortly after straightening, FLYING GENERAL was brushed by HARMONY which shifted in. Near the 250 Metres, HARMONY was bumped by FLYING GENERAL which after being unable to obtain clear running shifted to the outside of CLASSA FOR EVER to go forward. From near the 200 Metres until about the 50 Metres, DILIGENT was unable to obtain clear running between SHOGUN and HARMONY. Also from about the 200 Metres until near the 50 Metres, HONOUR SUPREME had difficulty obtaining clear running. Near the 100 Metres, GRAND FIGHTER and ALWAYS WELCOME were checked severely when crowded for room between SUNNY SING (M Rodd) which got its head on the side and shifted in while hanging and STARDANE which was carried out by GOLDEN CARE which initially shifted ground after being bumped by SHOGUN which in turn was carried out by DILIGENT which was endeavouring to improve on its inside. Whilst the checks to GRAND FIGHTER and ALWAYS WELCOME were of significance, the Stewards in the circumstances did not believe it was appropriate to hold any rider responsible, however, M Rodd was severely reprimanded and told in similar circumstances even though his mount was hanging he would be expected to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course. Over the concluding stages, SUNNY SING continued to hang in. At the 50 Metres, DILIGENT was checked when disappointed for running between HARMONY and SHOGUN which itself was carried in and steadied away from the heels of GOLDEN CARE (Apprentice C K Tong) which got its head on the side and shifted in while hanging. In the circumstances, Apprentice Tong was severely reprimanded and told that in similar circumstances he must make a greater effort to prevent his mounts shifting ground. Throughout the race, GRAND FIGHTER raced wide and without cover. G Mossé (HONOUR SUPREME) was reminded of his responsibilities to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels to the end of the race wherever possible. SUNNY SING and FLYING GENERAL were sent for sampling.
