Racing Incident Report

COURAGEOUSHEART began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE. As a consequence, COURAGEOUSHEART lost ground and was then hard ridden to improve its position, however, raced wide and without cover. SUNNY RIVIERA was slow to begin. Near the 1000 Metres, SHANGHAI LAD was steadied to avoid the heels of GALLANT FALCON which shifted in abruptly when being steadied away from the heels of SUMMERVILLE POWER which at this time was awkwardly placed close to the heels of KING HESPERUS. DR MORE, which was following SHANGHAI LAD, shifted out to avoid that runner and bumped DASHING THUNDER, resulting in that horse being carried wider and in turn causing inconvenience to FLYING BISHOP. No action was taken. Shortly after straightening, DR MORE was shifted to the inside of GALLANT FALCON to obtain clear running. For a considerable distance after the 400 Metres, GALLANT FALCON had difficulty obtaining clear running on the outside of GREENESSY and inside CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE. Because of this, CONNOISSEUR'S LOVE and GALLANT FALCON raced tight. After the 200 Metres, KING HESPERUS, which was giving ground, was steadied when crowded for room between SUNNY RIVIERA and WINNING CAT. Near the 100 Metres, GREENESSY, which was giving ground, was checked when crowded for room between SUMMERVILLE POWER which shifted out after having made contact with GREENESSY and GALLANT FALCON (M Rodd) which shifted in. As there were circumstances surrounding this incident, the Stewards did not believe it was appropriate to take any direct action, however, M Rodd was advised to exercise greater care. Shortly after this, SUMMERVILLE POWER was momentarily steadied when crowded for room between GALLANT FALCON and DR MORE which got its head on the side and shifted out. About 30 Metres from the finish, GALLANT FALCON was steadied away from the heels of DASHING THUNDER which got its head on the side and shifted in. Because of this, GALLANT FALCON was not ridden to the end of the race as it normally would be. DASHING THUNDER, DR MORE and SHANGHAI LAD were sent for sampling.
