Racing Incident Report
EXCELLENT PARTNERS was slow to begin. WINNING CHAMP began awkwardly and lost ground. ISLAND SUNRISE began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped SUPER PEARL. Shortly after this, SUPER PEARL and ISLAND SUNRISE lost their running when crowded for room between GRASS HOPPER which shifted out and LUMINOUS which was carried in slightly by DANEMAN HILL. Shortly after the start, FLAG FINDER was steadied away from the heels of CHOICE AND CHANCE which shifted in. At the 700 Metres, WINNING CHAMP, which was hanging in, was steadied away from the heels of FLAG FINDER. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, LUMINOUS, which its rider W M Lai reported to be racing greenly, was severely checked when crowded for room inside FLAG FINDER (D Whyte) which shifted in away from MILLION CHASE which at this time was carried in slightly by SOUTHERN LIGHT. The Stewards believed the manner in which LUMINOUS was racing at this time had contributed to the incident and therefore no action was taken. Prior to straightening, SUPER PEARL was checked when disappointed for running inside LUMINOUS which when making the turn awkwardly shifted out and then shifted back in. No action was taken. In the Straight, MILLION CHASE hung in when being ridden out. MILLION CHASE and GRASS HOPPER were sent for sampling.
