Racing Incident Report
ENGINEERING WONDER began awkwardly and got its head up. Shortly after the start, BOLD WIN, which was slow to muster speed, was checked when crowded for room between HAPPY MASTER which was carried out by BRAVE KNIGHT and DREAMS COME TRUE which was carried in by THE WORLD OF LOVE. Shortly after this, DREAMS COME TRUE and HAPPY MASTER were crowded for room between BRAVE KNIGHT and THE WORLD OF LOVE. No action was taken. Making the turn near the 1000 Metres, DREAMS COME TRUE hung out. A short distance later, HAPPY MASTER shifted out when being steadied away from the heels of THE WORLD OF LOVE. As a result of this, DREAMS COME TRUE and DANHERO were carried wider. Approaching the 600 Metres, HAPPY MASTER bounded in the air on several occasions, became unbalanced and lost ground sharply. When HAPPY MASTER lost ground, DREAMS COME TRUE and DANHERO which were following were checked to avoid that horse. After this, HAPPY MASTER was not put under any further pressure. As this was the second consecutive occasion on which HAPPY MASTER had performed in a similar manner, the Stewards advised Mr K L Man, trainer of the horse, that HAPPY MASTER would be required to perform satisfactorily in two consecutive official barrier trials around a bend before being permitted to race again. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, BRAVE KNIGHT raced tight between ENGINEERING WONDER and THE WORLD OF LOVE. For some distance after this, BRAVE KNIGHT was held up behind TOFFEE and inside THE WORLD OF LOVE. After the 600 Metres, BOLD WIN became unbalanced. Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, BOLD WIN was held up and unable to improve between ENGINEERING WONDER and PROFIT HILL. After the 200 Metres, M Rodd (WIN AGAIN) dropped his whip. C Brown (DANHERO) said from a wide barrier he had been instructed to ride the horse in a position with cover and give it a chance to finish the race off. He said DANHERO began equal best and he then allowed THE WORLD OF LOVE to improve through on his inside with the hope of being able to obtain a position behind that horse. He said approaching the turn at the 1000 Metres he could not shift in to follow THE WORLD OF LOVE as he was not clear of DREAMS COME TRUE, then making the turn was inconvenienced and carried wider. He said as a consequence of this DANHERO raced further back than was intended. He added when being checked to avoid HAPPY MASTER near the 600 Metres DANHERO became badly unbalanced and afterwards was reluctant to stride out. DRAGON HORSE and HAPPY MASTER were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of DRAGON HORSE after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, it was reported HAPPY MASTER had lost its right front plate. TOFFEE, WIN AGAIN and ENGINEERING WONDER were sent for sampling.
