Racing Incident Report

JOIN VICTORY was withdrawn on 2.5.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter UPPA HAND (Apprentice K T Yeung). Before being allowed to race again, JOIN VICTORY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. DONGGUAN VICTORY was slow to begin and then despite being vigorously ridden failed to muster speed and got well back. When the gates opened, NOBLE WIND bounded in the air and lost ground. TEMMOKU began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of WINNING SMILE. Shortly after this, TEMMOKU, TOP HONOR and WAIT FOR ME were checked when crowded for room between WINNING SMILE which shifted in slightly and BUDDIES POWER which got its head on the side and shifted out. At the 1200 Metres, SUNNY DESERT was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of UPPA HAND. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, CENAMIRA became unbalanced. Near the 400 Metres, FAST TRACK was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of TOP HONOR which at this time was held up and unable to improve when racing behind AMBITIOUS LEADER and WINNING SMILE. At the 200 Metres, TOP HONOR was shifted to the inside of GOLCONDA to continue going forward. For the major part of the race, FLORAL ARTS travelled wide and without cover. The performances of NOBLE WIND and UPPA HAND, which tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, NOBLE WIND and UPPA HAND will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. NOBLE WIND and DONGGUAN VICTORY were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of NOBLE WIND after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, DONGGUAN VICTORY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, DONGGUAN VICTORY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WINNING SMILE, TOP HONOR and GOLCONDA were sent for sampling.
