Racing Incident Report

On jumping, SIXTY SECONDS was bumped by CHINSOLA which shifted in after making contact with CALIFORNIA BISHOP. Near the winning post on the first occasion, FIGHTING MASCOT was steadied when crowded for room between LUCKY WINNER and SUPER HONEY. At the 1100 Metres, CHINSOLA got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of KING OF FISH. ROCKET WIN, which was following CHINSOLA, was steadied in consequence. At the 1000 Metres, EVERGREEN got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of GALLANT FALCON which in turn was steadied away from the heels of CALIFORNIA BISHOP which was steadied away from the heels of LUCKY WINNER which at this time steadied the tempo. In the middle stages, KING OF FISH hung out. At the 400 Metres, KING OF FISH was bumped by EVERGREEN which shifted out. After the 200 Metres, SUPER HONEY was bumped and carried wider by CALIFORNIA BISHOP (M W Leung) which at this time shifted to the outside of LUCKY WINNER into clear running. In this incident, CALIFORNIA BISHOP was struck over the head by the whip of Apprentice C K Tong (LUCKY WINNER). M W Leung was told to exercise care when obtaining runs in similar circumstances. Over about the final 200 Metres, CHINSOLA had difficulty obtaining clear running and because of this was not properly tested. Close to the winning post, SURVEYOR improved into a tight run between SUPER HONEY and LUCKY WINNER. Because of this, LUCKY WINNER was steadied and was not ridden out right to the end of the race. Just prior to the winning post, EVERGREEN was steadied when crowded for room between FIGHTING MASCOT and KING OF FISH which at this time shifted in away from CAPITALAND which also shifted in. In the Straight, KING OF FISH hung in and raced tight outside EVERGREEN. The Stewards will seek an explanation from C Munce regarding the poor performance of ROCKET WIN at the Sha Tin racemeeting next Sunday. EVERGREEN was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. ROCKET WIN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of EVERGREEN and ROCKET WIN after the race did not show any significant findings. CALIFORNIA BISHOP and CAPITALAND were sent for sampling.
