Racing Incident Report

Prior to the start being effected, LUCKYME became fractious and broke through the front gates of its stall, dislodging its rider, R Fradd. LUCKYME then completed a circuit of the course. Acting on veterinary advice that LUCKYME was not suitable to race, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the horse. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKYME will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. GLOBAL LEADER was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, FISHKING EXCELLENT got its head up and was steadied when reluctant to hold its position between CELESTIAL WONDER and FLAMING SUN. Near the 1000 Metres, FLYING KENNY was hampered when crowded for room between JOY AND FUN and LASER TIGER which shifted in slightly. Making the first turn, CELESTIAL WONDER was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FLYING KENNY. CELESTIAL WONDER then shifted out across the heels of GLOBAL LEADER and was checked. BOLD CHAMPION was hampered in consequence. Despite being ridden along from the 800 Metres, FRONTIER failed to hold its position and in the Straight gave ground. Passing the 800 Metres, JOY AND FUN dipped when close to the heels of FEEL-SO-GOOD. Passing the 600 Metres, JOY AND FUN again was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FEEL-SO-GOOD. In this incident, JOY AND FUN and FLAMING SUN bumped. At the 500 Metres, GLOBAL LEADER became unbalanced when reluctant to shift to the outside of LASER TIGER. Passing the 400 Metres, LASER TIGER and FLAMING SUN bumped as LASER TIGER shifted to the outside of DEVON FLAIR to improve its position. LASER TIGER then raced greenly and shifted ground on a number of occasions in the Straight. Throughout the race, DEVON FLAIR travelled wide and without cover. BOLD CHAMPION, FRONTIER and GLOBAL LEADER were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, BOLD CHAMPION was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, BOLD CHAMPION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of FRONTIER and GLOBAL LEADER after the race did not show any significant findings. JOY AND FUN and ISLAND SPEED were sent for sampling
