Racing Incident Report
SEA TREASURE began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, FOREVER RICHES was checked when crowded for room between SPRING SMILES which was taken out by KING OF SHAVER and FANTASTIC GUY which was carried in by ELFHELM. No action was taken. In this incident, SPRING SMILES also lost ground. Apprentice K T Yeung (KINGSGATE GLORY) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1600 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of COME HO CHOI, causing that horse to lose its rightful running and be checked. In the circumstances of this case, the Stewards believed the appropriate penalty was for Apprentice Yeung's licence to ride in races be suspended until Thursday 8 March 2007 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting next Sunday 25 February 2007. Near the 800 Metres, KA KA SMART was left racing without cover. After the 400 Metres, SPRING SMILES shifted in while hanging and was bumped by HARRY HARRY which at this time shifted out. At the 200 Metres, HARRY HARRY was momentarily steadied when crowded for room inside SPRING SMILES which got its head on the side and shifted in. No action was taken. S Dye (PACIFIC ALLIANCE) said at its last start the horse when racing away from the fence hung out. He said therefore today from a wide barrier he was instructed to take the horse back and travel on the fence. He said PACIFIC ALLIANCE travelled comfortably, however, near the 600 Metres again commenced to hang out. He said after entering the Home Straight he commenced to gradually improve his position firstly inside HARRY HARRY, then near the 300 Metres clear running presented itself inside KING OF SHAVER which at this time was giving ground. He said as he improved into this run near the 200 Metres, KING OF SHAVER drifted back in which caused him to be inconvenienced. He said after this he was then awkwardly placed close to the heels of KA KA SMART and as a consequence did not obtain proper clear running until after the 150 Metres. He said PACIFIC ALLIANCE only made fair ground when in clear running. When questioned regarding the poor performance of WONG'S SUCCESS, B Prebble was unable to offer any explanation. He said WONG'S SUCCESS travelled kindly in a forward position in the early and middle stages, however, after straightening kept on only one paced until near the 200 Metres when it commenced to give ground. He did say the work of WONG'S SUCCESS leading into today's race had been good. FANTASTIC GUY was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. WONG'S SUCCESS was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of FANTASTIC GUY and WONG'S SUCCESS after the race did not show any significant findings. WONDERFUL BLESSING and ELFHELM were sent for sampling.
