Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, S K Sit, the rider of EXPEDITIOUS, expressed concern over the action of the horse during the preliminary. EXPEDITIOUS was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said it was lame in the left front leg. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of EXPEDITIOUS. Before being allowed to race again, EXPEDITIOUS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FERRO BEAU was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, VICTORY TURBO was steadied when awkwardly placed between MULTI MILLIONS and FLORAL STAR. In the early stages, EIGHT PLUS NINE, which was racing in blinkers for the first time today, proved very difficult to settle when racing without cover. At the 800 Metres, SYDNEY OWNER was steadied when awkwardly placed inside BOBO WIN which at this time was carried in slightly by RICH FOR ALL. Also at the 800 Metres, FAT DRAGON was left racing without cover. From on straightening until the 200 Metres, VICTORY CODE had difficulty obtaining clear running. At the 200 Metres, FLORAL STAR, which was closing the race off, was checked to avoid the heels of BEAUTY PLUS which shifted out. At the 100 Metres, FAT DRAGON, which was commencing to give ground, was checked to avoid the heels of SYDNEY OWNER which was carried wider by VICTORY CODE. No action was taken. In the Straight VICTORY TURBO hung in and just prior to the line when shifting ground was checked to avoid the heels of NICE KING which also shifted out slightly. No action was taken. When questioned, G Mossé (MULTI MILLIONS) said he placed his mount under pressure after straightening and it responded only fairly. He said near the 200 Metres he was of the opinion MULTI MILLIONS would not finish in the placings and he momentarily stopped riding his mount out. He said shortly afterwards he resumed riding MULTI MILLIONS out and the horse made a little ground in the run to the line. G Mossé was told to ensure he rides his mounts out properly at all stages of the race. FAT DRAGON was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, FAT DRAGON was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, FAT DRAGON will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. NICE KING and VICTORY CODE were sent for sampling.
