Racing Incident Report

On jumping, AMAZING CHOISIR was crowded for room between RACING SPIRIT and GALACTIC TACTIC. Shortly after the start, ANIMATION was crowded for room between BUCCANEER and VICTORIOUS DRAGON which after initially being carried in by WIKI WIKI shifted in further away from that horse. O Doleuze (SHINING DRAGON) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1000 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of CLEMENT ELITE, causing that horse to lose its rightful running, be checked and in turn caused crowding on its inside to GALACTIC TACTIC. In this incident, inconvenience was also caused to RACING SPIRIT. O Doleuze was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 15 November 2007 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting on Tuesday 6 November 2007. In addition, O Doleuze was fined $20,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 1 further raceday. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, VICTORIOUS DRAGON was checked away from the heels of WIKI WIKI after being carried out by CLEMENT ELITE which shifted ground when unbalanced. In this incident, WIKI WIKI also shifted in slightly. BUCCANEER, which was following, was steadied in consequence. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Also making the turn at the 1000 Metres, ANIMATION got its head up, hung out and was checked away from the heels of BUCCANEER. ANIMATION continued to hang out after entering the Back Straight. Near the 800 Metres, RACING SPIRIT became unbalanced when crowded for room inside GALACTIC TACTIC which had its head on the side and hung in away from WIKI WIKI. After the 200 Metres, CLEMENT ELITE, which was giving ground, became unbalanced, shifted in and bumped GALACTIC TACTIC. Throughout the race, EXPLODING travelled wide and without cover. When questioned, Mr C W Chang, trainer of SHINING DRAGON, said it was anticipated the speed of tonight’s race would not be strong and he therefore instructed O Doleuze, rider of the horse, which was racing back up in distance to 1200 Metres to go forward from the start and endeavour to obtain a position just off the speed. O Doleuze confirmed the riding instructions issued. He said he therefore rode SHINING DRAGON along in the early stages to ensure it obtained a forward position. He said when a number of runners continued forward on his inside with him, he decided to avoid being caught wide it would be in the best interest of SHINING DRAGON to continue going forward to clear those runners and cross to the lead. He did confirm it was not his pre-race intention to lead, however, he said because of the manner in which the race was run in the early stages he decided it was in the best interest of SHINING DRAGON to continue on. Mr Chang confirmed the intention will be to have the horse ridden in a forward position but not to be made use of to lead in its future races. SHINING DRAGON and CLEMENT ELITE were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, SHINING DRAGON was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. Also after the race, CLEMENT ELITE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, CLEMENT ELITE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SALUT BEAUTE and AMAZING CHOISIR were sent for sampling. Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported SALUT BEAUTE had sustained abrasion wounds over the left hip and left hind fetlock area.
