Racing Incident Report

TOWKAY FLYER was withdrawn on 31.12.07 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (colic). Before being allowed to race again, TOWKAY FLYER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Shortly after the start, LITTLE BIG BOY was checked and CHINA LUJIA hampered when crowded for room between SUNNY GOLF and CALIFORNIA HEART which got its head on the side and shifted in away from MY HOME TOWN (D Whyte) after initially having been carried in by that horse. D Whyte was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. In the early stages despite being ridden along, MAGIC KING was slow to muster speed, then in the middle stages travelled wide and without cover and making the Home Turn hung out. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, MEDALLION, which was racing wide on the track, hung out. After this, MEDALLION was taken across behind runners. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, MINGS’ HERO got its head up, shifted out and was steadied away from the heels of MY HOME TOWN. Also making the turn at the 800 Metres, SUNNY GOLF got its head up and was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of CALIFORNIA HEART. Approaching the 600 Metres, LITTLE BIG BOY got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of SUNNY GOLF which itself was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of CALIFORNIA HEART. From on straightening until near the 200 Metres, MINGS’ HERO had difficulty obtaining clear running. From shortly after straightening until near the 200 Metres, BOUNCER had difficulty obtaining clear running. After the 300 Metres, CHINA LUJIA was steadied when disappointed for running between CALIFORNIA HEART and MAGIC KING. After this, CHINA LUJIA continued to have difficulty obtaining clear running for some distance and at the 150 Metres was steadied after becoming unbalanced when bumped by BOUNCER which improved on its inside, resulting in CHINA LUJIA being disappointed for running between BOUNCER and MINGS’ HERO. MEDALLION was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MEDALLION after the race did not show any significant findings. MY HOME TOWN and OPTIC KING were sent for sampling.
