Racing Incident Report

POTPOURRI was withdrawn on 15.10.09 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right fore tendon injury) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter SPRING SMILES. STORM’S DESTINY, which was slow to begin, was checked away from the heels of LIGHTNING MOUNT shortly after the start when SPRING SMILES shifted out abruptly. As a result, both SPRING SMILES an STORM’S DESTINY lost ground at the start. From the outside barriers, both BRAVO HORSE and ALL PROFIT were taken back across behind runners. Shortly after the start, ALL PROFIT shifted in and contacted the hindquarters of LUCKY MONEY STAR, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. LUCKY MONEY STAR travelled wide and without cover until the 1000 Metres. Passing the 100 Metres, LIGHTNING MOUNT had some difficulty obtaining clear running when travelling behind MASTER TOWER. For the majority of the race, WADADELIGHT travelled wide and without cover. A veterinary inspection of GOLDEN BOY after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of GOLDEN BOY, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GOLDEN BOY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. LUCKY MONEY STAR, SOUND OF SILENCE and COULDN’T CARE LESS were sent for sampling.
