Racing Incident Report

As the start was effected, DORDENMA lifted its front feet off the ground and was slow to begin. FORTUNE RED PEPPER and REGENCY WINNER both began awkwardly. FLUKE and LEGEND bumped at the start. From the outside barrier, HANNAH KING PRAWN was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, FORTUNE RED PEPPER was checked away from the heels of FULL OF JOY. For some distance after this, FORTUNE RED PEPPER continued to be awkwardly placed close to the heels of FULL OF JOY and near the 1300 Metres shifted out when checked away from the heels of that horse. FORTUNE RED PEPPER was then shifted back in behind FULL OF JOY, however, near the 1200 Metres was again restrained away from the heels of FULL OF JOY. Due to the manner in which FORTUNE RED PEPPER was racing, Y T Cheng, the rider of that horse, was unable to position FORTUNE RED PEPPER behind FULL OF JOY. Because of this, after the 1200 Metres FORTUNE RED PEPPER, which was racing four wide and without cover, was allowed to stride forward in an attempt to find a position closer to the rail. Near the 1300 Metres, FLUKE raced tight inside LEGEND which, despite the efforts of its rider, got its head on the side and shifted in slightly. Passing the 250 Metres, FLUKE, which was shifting out in an attempt to obtain clear running, was checked away from the heels of DORDENMA which, when weakening, shifted out slightly. When being checked, FLUKE shifted out across the rightful running of CHINA DRAGON, causing that horse to be checked in consequence. For the major part of the race, FULL OF JOY raced wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. The performance of FULL OF JOY, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, FULL OF JOY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of FULL OF JOY and FORTUNE RED PEPPER after the race did not show any significant findings. FORTUNE RED PEPPER, DUMBARTON ROCK and IRISH JIG were sent for sampling. <28/1/2010 Additional Veterinary Report> FULL OF JOY, which finished tailed out, was examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison. He said at that time there were no significant findings. FULL OF JOY was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A Lee this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. As previously advised, FULL OF JOY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
