Racing Incident Report

Prior to arriving at the saddling stalls, it was reported that YOU GOTTA PAY appeared short in its action. On arrival at the saddling stalls, YOU GOTTA PAY was examined by the Veterinary officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. FLEET COMMAND was slow to begin. When being steadied passing the 1200 Metres, FINAL ANSWER got its head up and shifted out abruptly, resulting in AASHIQ being bumped and taken wider. After this, FINAL ANSWER continued to prove difficult to settle. Passing the 900 Metres, HIGH POINT was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 400 Metres, OUR LUCKY BABY, which was commencing to give ground, was steadied away from the heels of FINAL ANSWER which shifted to the inside of AASHIQ to obtain clear running. The performance of OUR LUCKY BABY, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, OUR LUCKY BABY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. An inquiry into the reason for CERISE CHERRY blundering badly and its rider, T Angland, subsequently being dislodged from the horse near the 350 Metres was adjourned until a date to be fixed due to T Angland being transported to hospital. FLEET COMMAND, which had been held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight, was checked away from the heels of CERISE CHERRY in consequence. YOU GOTTA PAY had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 150 Metres. Because of this, YOU GOTTA PAY was not properly tested. In the Straight, SPARKLING POWER hung in and proved difficult to ride. A veterinary inspection of CERISE CHERRY after the race did not show any significant findings other than the horse had lost its left hind plate. A veterinary inspection of YOU GOTTA PAY after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. A veterinary inspection of LONDON CHINA TOWN after the race did not show any significant findings. CALIFORNIA MEMORY, SUNNY KING and SPARKLING POWER were sent for sampling.
