Racing Incident Report
PACKING CHAMPION began awkwardly and shifted out, inconveniencing GOOD BEAUTY.
HAPPY TIME shifted out at the start and bumped SEA ELITE. HAPPY TIME and SEA ELITE were then crowded for room shortly after the start between GOOD BEAUTY which shifted out away from PACKING CHAMPION and TREASURE OF FIELD which shifted in after beginning awkwardly and bumping the hindquarters of WILD WEST WING. In this incident, TREASURE OF FIELD became badly unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by SEA ELITE.
FORTUNE HERO shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of ARES.
When being steadied to obtain cover from a wide barrier, OVERSUBSCRIBED shifted out and hampered EXCELLENT PEERS. After this, EXCELLENT PEERS was shifted across behind runners to obtain a position on the rail.
From the outside barrier, FARIBAULT was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Near the 700 Metres, FORTUNE HERO shifted out towards the heels of TREASURE OF FIELD. Then near the 650 Metres, FORTUNE HERO was momentarily eased away from the heels of TREASURE OF FIELD which shifted in when just clear.
OVERSUBSCRIBED made the turn near the 600 Metres awkwardly, got its head on the side, shifted out and inconvenienced FARIBAULT.
Rounding the Home Turn, OVERSUBSCRIBED raced close to the heels of FORTUNE HERO. Then near the 300 Metres, OVERSUBSCRIBED was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FORTUNE HERO which shifted out. FORTUNE HERO then commenced to lay out under pressure, resulting in OVERSUBSCRIBED being steadied away from the heels of that horse passing the 150 Metres.
Passing the 300 Metres, SEA ELITE got its head on the side and lay in towards the heels of PACKING CHAMPION.
Throughout the race, ARES travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, J Moreira stated that at no stage of tonight’s race did GOOD BEAUTY travel strongly. He said he had to ride his mount along continually in the early and middle stages to maintain its position. He said, despite being ridden along, GOOD BEAUTY would not respond to his riding and he was not able to prevent HAPPY TIME from shifting in in front of GOOD BEAUTY near the 700 Metres. He said after being crossed by HAPPY TIME, GOOD BEAUTY kept losing ground on that horse despite continuing to be ridden along. He said he placed GOOD BEAUTY under heavy pressure in the early part of the Straight and after attempting to improve to the inside of HAPPY TIME approaching the 200 Metres, he shifted GOOD BEAUTY to the outside of that horse after the 200 Metres. He added at this time GOOD BEAUTY was already well beaten and then, despite being ridden out over the concluding stages, did not make up ground. A veterinary inspection of GOOD BEAUTY immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, GOOD BEAUTY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of FARIBAULT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
GOOD BEAUTY, WILD WEST WING and PACKING CHAMPION were sent for sampling.
