Racing Incident Report

After being loaded into the barriers, CIRCUIT BOOMING became fractious and got its left front leg over the partition for a considerable period. CIRCUIT BOOMING was removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, CIRCUIT BOOMING was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, CIRCUIT BOOMING will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
HAPPY UNITED shifted out at the start and bumped ISLAND SURPRISE which was taken out and made contact with ENDEARED.
JOYFUL HUNTER shifted in at the start before being corrected by its rider.
From the outside barriers, TELECOM SPIRIT and HAPPY TRIO (H Bentley) were shifted across behind runners in the early stages. H Bentley stated that after being shifted across behind runners in the early stages, he then commenced to ride HAPPY TRIO along, however, the horse failed to respond to his riding and settled further back in the field than what he had intended.
Making the first turn, MULTISUPER was steadied when crowded by SUPER WINNER (A Hamelin) which shifted in and away from HAPPY UNITED. A Hamelin was advised to exercise more care.
Approaching the 700 Metres, SUPER WINNER was steadied when crossed by ISLAND SURPRISE (K C Leung) which shifted in when not quite clear. K C Leung was advised to ensure that he is clear when shifting ground.
From the 700 Metres, SUPER DOBBIN raced wide and without cover.
When placed under pressure in the Straight, JOYFUL HUNTER lay in.
ENDEARED also lay in in the Straight.
When questioned regarding the performance of HAPPY UNITED, Z Purton stated that his mount travelled comfortably behind the lead, but when asked for an effort in the Home Straight, hung in. He added that when he was concerned HAPPY UNITED was going to shift in near the 150 Metres and crowd runners to his inside, he corrected his mount and then was not able to fully test HAPPY UNITED over the final 150 Metres of the event. Trainer J Richards advised that he had expected a positive performance of HAPPY UNITED tonight and in particular it performed satisfactorily in a barrier trial on 30 May 2023. He added that HAPPY UNITED is still somewhat immature and would derive benefit from tonight’s race experience. A veterinary inspection of HAPPY UNITED immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of HAPPY UNITED, a last start winner, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY UNITED will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
When questioned regarding the performance of MULTISUPER, L Hewitson stated that his mount jumped only fairly and after improving to the inside of SUPER WINNER on the first turn, MULTISUPER was steadied when momentarily crowded by that runner and as a result was obliged to race behind SUPER WINNER. He added that in the middle stages when SUPER WINNER was crossed by ISLAND SURPRISE, MULTISUPER was obliged to race further back than what he had anticipated, however, when placed under pressure in the Straight, his mount was still somewhat disappointing. A veterinary inspection of MULTISUPER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of MULTISUPER, favourite for tonight’s race, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MULTISUPER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
After the race, M Dee (STARRY NIGHT) stated that his intention was to settle a little closer in the run, but irrespective his mount still raced somewhat disappointingly. A veterinary inspection of STARRY NIGHT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of HAPPY TRIO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
MULTISUPER, JOYFUL HUNTER and MODEST GENTLEMAN were sent for sampling.
