5 9 NORTHERN BEACHES (H266) Approaching the 300 Metres was disappointed for clear running between ACE ONE and FLYING HIGH. Was then held up from the 300 Metres to the 200 Metres behind ACE ONE and at the 200 Metres was checked to avoid ACE ONE and did not obtain clear running until near the 100 Metres when it improved into a narrow run between ACE ONE and PLEASANT ENDEAVOR. Sent for sampling post-race.
6 11 SPEED SWORD (H397) No report.
7 10 ONLY U (J037) Jumped only fairly.
8 3 ACE ONE (G196) No report.
9 6 METRO WARRIOR (D387) At declaration time, K C Leung was declared as the rider of both METRO WARRIOR and ONLY U. It was established that K C Leung had a firm commitment to ride ONLY U. As such, the Stewards permitted L Hewitson to be substituted as the rider of METRO WARRIOR. For this declaration error, Trainer D A Hayes was fined $2,000. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
10 8 MUST GO (J133) Slow to begin.
11 4 RUN RUN COOL (E322) Between the 150 Metres and the 100 Metres was held up behind SPARKLING KNIGHT.
12 12 SUPERB KID (H298) Crowded at the start. Over the final 150 Metres was held up behind METRO WARRIOR and unable to be ridden out to the finish.
13 5 SPARKLING KNIGHT (C201) After the race, A Hamelin reported that after making use of his mount to obtain the lead, SPARKLING KNIGHT was then pressured by METRO WARRIOR and as a result could not finish the race off strongly. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
