4 6 MAYHEM (H226) Leaving the 1100 Metres was steadied when crowded by SMART FOLKS (A Hamelin) which shifted in whilst being ridden forward. A Hamelin was severely reprimanded. Near the 700 Metres was steadied when crowded between STRATHBARRY and ACA POWER which shifted out after being steadied away from SMART FOLKS.
5 3 FAST BUCK (H126) Bumped at the start and became unbalanced.
6 7 ACA POWER (E144) In the early stages raced keenly and for some distance near the 700 Metres got its head up when positioned close to SMART FOLKS.
7 11 STRIVE FOR GLORY (D186) Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
8 12 DAILY TROPHY (H283) Jumped awkwardly, made contact with FAST BUCK and then shortly after the start blundered badly when it appeared to strike the heels of FAST BUCK. Sent for sampling post-race.
9 5 STRATHBARRY (H413) A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea and also found the horse to have sustained a small cut to the left hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, STRATHBARRY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
10 4 SHANGHAI STYLE (J093) Hung out on the Home Turn. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. <18/12/2023 Additional Veterinary Reports>SHANGHAI STYLE, which performed disappointingly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. SHANGHAI STYLE was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer C S Shum this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, SHANGHAI STYLE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
11 9 SMART FOLKS (D343) After the race, A Hamelin reported that he was obliged to ride his mount along throughout the early and middle stages to hold a forward position. He said SMART FOLKS gave ground in the Home Straight and raced in a disappointing manner. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of SMART FOLKS was considered to be disappointing as compared to its previous race starts. Before being allowed to race again, SMART FOLKS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
12 1 FLASH POINT (H250) The performance of FLASH POINT, which finished tailed out on the second consecutive occasion, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FLASH POINT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a series of consecutive barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
WV EURO ROCKS (H153) Withdrawn on 16.12.23 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore) and replaced by Standby Declared FLASH POINT. Before being allowed to race again, EURO ROCKS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
