Racing Incident Report

Pla. Horse No. Horse Incident
1 STAR CLUB (H239) Bumped on jumping. Held up for clear running between the 450 Metres and the 350 Metres. Sent for sampling post-race.
8 LIFELINE EXPRESS (H439) Sent for sampling post-race.
2 PHOENIX LIGHT (G192) When questioned regarding his riding, Apprentice Y L Chung stated that from a wide barrier he was instructed to take up a midfield position but if unable to do so with cover, he was given the option to come back in order to find cover. He said in the early stages when caught wide he elected to settle PHOENIX LIGHT towards the rear of the field to ensure that he complied with his instructions. When questioned regarding his riding from the 550 Metres, Apprentice Chung stated that when following the short- priced favourite STAR CLUB, he elected to remain racing behind that runner with a view to following it into the event. He said he was reluctant to shift to the outside at this stage as he was concerned that he would have had to shift out a number of horses and be taken wide. He added after continuing to follow STAR CLUB, when that runner was able to secure a narrow run to the outside of MASSIVE TALENT near the 350 Metres, when MASSIVE TALENT then commenced to give ground and he had GAMEPLAYER WARRIOR to his outside, he was unable to improve to follow STAR CLUB. He further stated that as a result approaching the 300 Metres he then elected to improve to the inside of MASSIVE TALENT but became held up between COMPASSION SUPER and LIFELINE EXPRESS near the 200 Metres and did not obtain clear running until after the 100 Metres where his mount finished the race off well. After considering his explanations, the Stewards found the tactics adopted by Apprentice Chung were reasonable in the circumstances.
7 KING MILES (J158) Near the 800 Metres was taken wide by VERBIER which shifted to the outside of GAMEPLAYER WARRIOR. Then raced very wide and without cover from that point onwards.
5 GIMME FIVE (J099) Shifted in at the start and was bumped.
12 COMPASSION SUPER (G283) No report.
3 FORERUNNER (G465) Leaving the 200 Metres became held up for clear running behind COMPASSION SUPER when that runner commenced to give ground. As a result, FORERUNNER was badly held up and could not be ridden out until near the 50 Metres.
11 VERBIER (J187) Jumped only fairly.
4 GAMEPLAYER WARRIOR (J178) Approaching the 900 Metres was eased away from the heels of GIMME FIVE which was taken in slightly by MASSIVE TALENT. Approaching the 300 Metres raced in restricted room between PACKING PROSPECT which was giving ground and STAR CLUB which shifted out to improve.
6 GLORY ELITE (H311) After the race, L Ferraris stated that after commencing well he was able to hold the lead on GLORY ELITE, but his mount was not suited by being pressured in the lead by COMPASSION SUPER and as a result did not finish the race off when placed under pressure in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
9 MASSIVE TALENT (H282) After the race, M Chadwick reported that he was obliged to make use of his mount in the early stages to clear runners to his inside and to take up a forward position. He said as a result MASSIVE TALENT was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
10 PACKING PROSPECT (H424) Raced wide and without cover from the 800 Metres. After the race, J McDonald reported that when placed under pressure in the Home Straight his mount commenced to give ground and when he was concerned there may be something amiss with it he did not ride it out over the final 200 Metres when not in a competitive position. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of PACKING PROSPECT, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, PACKING PROSPECT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
