Racing Incident Report

Before racing commenced today, C Soumillon (TERRE A TERRE) was examined by the Club's doctor. He said C Soumillon had a dressing on the big toe of his right foot, but in his opinion was fit to fulfil his engagement today. C Soumillon assured the Stewards having his toe bandaged did not place him at any disadvantage, but he did have some difficulty feeling the stirrup iron through the bandages as he rode on his toes. He said near the 200 Metres when riding TERRE A TERRE out his right foot slipped out of the iron but he was able to continue riding the horse hard to the finish. He did say whilst it was difficult for him over the concluding stages he was convinced this incident did not in any way affect the finishing position of TERRE A TERRE. After arriving at the Start, TERRE A TERRE was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He said he had been informed by the Senior Veterinary Surgeon that TERRE A TERRE had made contact with the rail in the Parade Ring. The necessary consultation was carried out and TERRE A TERRE was suitable to race. On jumping, JIM AND TONIC was crowded for room between HAWKEYE and HOUSEMASTER which began awkwardly and shifted in away from MOMENTUM. On leaving the gates, TOBOUGG and BACH came together. Near the 200 Metres, MOMENTUM was steadied when crowded between SADDLE UP and PEAK POWER which was shifting out slightly to avoid SILVANO and in the run to the winning post, MOMENTUM raced tight between PEAK POWER and CHOC ICE.
